Dear Pickett’s Mill Families,
What an exciting time this is for the Northwest Cobb community! Pickett’s Mill Elementary will open to students in August, 2008. The construction is finished ahead of schedule and the building is completely paid for thanks to SPLOST II funding.
Students will come from Frey, Ford, and Lewis Elementary schools to form Pickett’s Mill Elementary. There will also be staff representation from each of the feeder schools. We are expecting around 625 students and 60 certified teachers. Additionally, we anticipate having about 15 paraprofessionals and office staff.
Pickett’s Mill Elementary classrooms will be equipped with 21st Century Classroom Technology (ceiling mounted LCD projectors, Promethean Boards, and student response devices). The Media Center, art classroom, and music classroom will also be state of the art. How fortunate we are to live and work in a community that values education!
I look forward to the challenge of opening a new school. Together, we will build a tradition of excellence and a culture of high expectations where students experience learning in a positive and supportive environment.
Sincerely,
Shelia Chesser
Principal
