Hello and welcome to the “Pirate Pad”. My name is Cara McArthur, and I would like to take a moment to tell you a little about myself. I am excited about this new school year at Pickett’s Mill Elementary. I have taught first, second and third grade for 15 years all in Cobb County.
I was born in Adana, Turkey where my father was in the Air Force. During my school years we moved around with the railroad throughout Ohio, West Virginia, Kentucky, and now Georgia. For college, I attended both the University of Kentucky (GO CATS!!) and Kennesaw State University where I finished my undergraduate degree. I then went on to get my Master’s Degree in Early Childhood Education from Berry College and an Educational Specialist Degree in Creative Arts & Learning from Lesley University. I have also received my Gifted Endorsement through Cobb County Schools.
I enjoy family time with my parents, brother, sister-in-law, niece (5 yrs.) who started Kindergarten in Cherokee County this year, and nephew (2 yrs.). When possible I also travel a lot throughout the summer and catch up on my creative side while stamping and scrapbooking. My favorite things to do is to read, go out to eat, or to a movie with friends.
I am so excited to be starting yet another school year at Pickett's Mil Elementary. It is sure to be an amazing adventure!
