Week of April 30th

Tulip-beeline

Is it really May already? As we enter our last month of this school year, let the craziness begin. At least for we teachers I know that statement holds true. It was SO GOOD to see so many of you and catch up at the Spring Fling Friday night. It looked like everyone was having a great time and the kids were so cute running over to show me everything that they were winning at the games. Good times!

This week will be our last week with Miss Bagwell. We have really enjoyed our time with her helping her finish up her teaching degree. Thank you to all of you that are helping us send her off in style.

I hope that you have been told about our newest classmates. We are watching the life cycle of a butterfly first hand with caterpillars that are started to spin their chrysalis on Friday. Mystery Word: chrysalis. It is so much fun to watch their learning and excitement as they witness what we have been learning about in "real life" terms.

Bee and flower border
I hope that this update finds you all well and enjoying your weekend. We had another busy week last week in The Pirate Pad. We have another week of crazy schedules ahead of us this week. Monday and Tuesday we will still be on the testing schedule that I shared with you last week due to 3rd - 5th grade still testing. We will wrap up our week on Friday with our annual SPRING FLING starting at 5:30 p.m. Mystery Word: Fling. I hope to see many of you there.
While at Spring Fling please check out our Student Council table. They are partnering with MUST Ministries and collecting donations for a Summer Lunch Drive. Items being request are juice boxes, bags of chips, peanut butter and jelly, and more. Download Summer Lunch Program
Information about the 2nd MARKET DAY of the school year went home last week. Please begin reflecting and planning what to do for the project due on MAY 4. There will be no homework packets next week to give you some extra time at home to work on their projects with them. We will be discussing supply and demand, price, and other things for reflection on the last project next week. Students may do the same thing or something totally different than their projects from December's Market Day. The purpose is to learn from the previous Market Day to make this one even BETTER!

Fire Lane Warning
We had a visit from the Public Safety Officer who checks on fire lanes at the schools. He wrote a few warning tickets to parents who were cued up in the car pool line prior to 1:40pm. He informed us that the car pool line should not begin before 1:40pm and should not last beyond 2:40pm. He stated that many tickets have been written at other schools and they can charge fees up to $100.00.

FiresafetyAnd yet another week has passed in The Pirate Pad..... This upcoming week is full of schedule changes so please be aware. On Monday, we will be leaving the school a little after 9:00 a.m. for the Fire Safety Village. PLEASE make sure that the children are dressed appropriately as part of the activities require us being up, down, climbing out of windows, inside, outside, etc. Tennis shoes would be a true benefit. Wednesday and Thursday we will be taking the CRCT in Second Grade first thing each morning. The upper grades will be testing for five days total starting on Wednesday so we will be on a different schedule school wide starting Wednesday through next Tuesday. Our lunch will stay the same, however, we will be going to Specials from 12:00-12:30 on those days. Mystery Word: testing. PLEASE make sure that the children are getting lots of sleep and a good hearty breakfast each morning before testing. Thank you in advance!

Week of March 26th

Animated-spring

Yeah, Spring if finally here!  I am just loving this beautiful weather.  Although, it feels like we are skipping Spring and going straight into Summer temperatures.

Today Miss Bagwell sent home next week's homework  packet so that you and your children can start thinking ahead and gathering materials that they will need in order to complete the project without being crunched for time at the beginning of the week.  Mystery Word:  Egg.  On Monday, when the children fill out their agenda they will be given specific instructions on what to do each night.  All work will stay together in the packet and be turned in together on Thursday. We will be sharing our "Eggcellently Fashioned Eggs" on Thursday and Friday in class. We can't wait to see their creativity and have a little fun this week before Spring Break rather than the same old boring style homework packet.  There will be no spelling list or spelling test.  We will resume our normal routine the week of April 9th.
