BINGO Night
Calling all Pickett's Mill Families
BINGO NIGHT IS ON FRIDAY FEBRUARY 24, 2012 from
6:00 - 8:00 PM
Come and join us for a fun filled night. Concessions will be available if you preorder food.
Special Persons' Lunch
Come visit the Scholastic Book Fair at the Pickett's Mill Media Center and have lunch with your second grade student too. The date for the "Who" Guests is Wednesday, February29th from 11:00-11:30. If you are planning on attending, please fill out the RSVP slip included your child's PTA Folder and send it in with your child on or before
February 14th.
Valentine Mailboxes
Valentine Mailboxes
(Due Friday, February 10th)
Valentine’s Day is quickly approaching, and your child will need a Valentine Mailbox to hold their friendly Valentine cards. Don't even think about spending money buying one ... your child can simply make their own. First they can start by finding a box that will be large enough to hold all their Valentine cards. A shoe box, tissue box, or cereal box will all work as a mailbox and can hold plenty of Valentines. Next, they can decorate the box by covering it with wrapping paper, foil, fabric or construction paper. Then, they can use stickers, clip art, glitter, pictures, etc. to jazz up their mailbox. Finally, be sure they put their name on the outside of their mailbox so mail can be delivered. Remember . . . they are free to be creative!
This assignment will be coming out on February 6th, but I wanted to give you all a heads-up just in case your child wanted to work on it over the weekend.

Pickett's Mill in the News!
Each year the Governor's Office recognizes schools throughout the state for performance and improvements in academic achievements. This year it was announced that Pickett’s Mill has been awarded the Bronze Star for academic achievements. We are very proud and honored to have been named among the top performing schools in the District and the State.

Class List for Valentine Cards
Attached is a handy class list to be used for addressing Valentine cards. We have 23 "Whos" in the class, so each child should address 23 cards. The festive cards are due on February 13th. Have fun!
