The kids can't take anything home on the bus on Thursday, May 24th. So if your child is planning on bringing a lunch, please make sure it is in a bag that can be thrown away. Also no backpacks will be allowed on the bus on Thursday. All of your child's goodies will be sent
home on Wednesday.

New Principal

As you may know, Ms. Chesser announced that this would be her last year as Principal of Pickett Mill Elementary School.
The Cobb County School Board announced on May 17th that Jenny Douglas has been selected as the new Principal of Pickett’s Mill. There will be an opportunity to meet her over the summer. As soon as a date is planned , the PTA will send out an eblast to let you know as well as post it on the website.
Summer Lunch Program
Ahoy Matey! The Pickett’s Mill Student Council will be collecting food items for the “Summer Lunch” program for Must Ministries. Must Ministries serves more than 100,000 lunches to hungry children in Cobb and Cherokee Counties during the summer months. These are children living in poverty that would not have lunch if it were not for the “Summer Lunch” program. Pickett’s Mill Student Council will be collecting the following items at Spring Fling on Friday night, April 27. Please help us help the needy children in our community.
Requested Items:
1. Individual bags of salty snacks (chips, pretzels, etc.)
2. Juice Boxes
3. Jars of peanut butter
4. Jars of Jelly
5. Individual packs of cookies.

Career Day 2012
Career Day 2012 will be Monday, May 14th. We are still in need of Career Speakers and Careers on Wheels Vehicles. Fire Lane Warnings
Fire Lane Warning
We had a visit from the Public Safety Officer who checks on fire lanes at the schools. He wrote a few warning tickets to parents who were cued up in the car pool line prior to 1:40pm. He informed us that the car pool line should not begin before 1:40pm and should not last beyond 2:40pm. He stated that many tickets have been written at other schools and they can charge fees up to $100.00.
CRCT
The second grade will be taking the CRCT next week on Wednesday and Thursday. Below is the schedule we will be following:
April 18th - Reading Section
April 19th - Math Section
Please be sure your child arrives at school on time and has a tasty breaksfast.
