That's the best way to sum it all up! What a week! We had an amazing week of learing in our classroom last week. In math we finished our time unit and can now successfully tell time to the hour and half hour. We also reviewed our facts to 18. Our phonics continued withour long vowel study of long o. Ms. Vaccarrelli had some fun lessons planned for us to help us remember the long o sound. Reading was all about inferring when we read. We became detectives and did some great inferring to help us better understand what we read. We studied the seven continents and five oceans (yes five! Ask your child about the newest ocean) in Social Studies. Our writing continues to progress as we complete our informational piece about frogs.
The end of our week was so much fun! We ended the week with our 110th day celebration. This included our 110th day circus! We also decorated continent cookies and had an ice cream celebration at the end of the day with Ms. Benson's class. We are celebrating reaching 25,000 stickers in First in Math! Way to go!

Special thanks to everyone that helped pull this event together! All the first grade students and teachers had a blast! Calling all Pickett's Mill Families BINGO NIGHT IS ON FRIDAY FEBRUARY 24, 2012 from Come and join us for a fun filled night. Concessions will be available if you preorder food.
Please don't forget to bring in your Valentine box, Valentines and your Party in a bag snack on Tuesday! We will be sharing our Valentines at the end of the day. We will have snack at our regular time, so the Party in a bg will be your child's snack that day. Mystery Question Natalie and Keegan made 16 Valentine cookies for their friends. If they had four friends come over, would they have enough to give their friends? How many would each friend get? Show your thinking!
