We are looking forward to our holiday breakfast. Thank you in advance for donating items which you may send in on Wednesday if you'd like. All parents and guardians are invited to attend. There are 4 groups performing a Reader's Theater. The children have worked hard and are very excited about performing for you! We should finish up by 8:30.

Treasured Tidbits 12.16

The stockings are hung, so don't forget to send in small items/treats for our treasured friends. Items might include pencils, candy canes, bouncy balls, bubbles, or any other small item that will fit into a stocking. Dollar Tree is a fun place to shop for these items.

SOCIAL STUDIES - Rivers & Mountain Ranges ~ Quiz on Wednesday, December 21st. The 5 rivers are the Hudson, Ohio, Mississippi, Rio Grande, and Colorado. The students must be able to identify these rivers on a blank map of the United States.

As the holiday season approaches, we want to let you know something special that we will be doing in our class. Each child will have a stocking. Your child may bring a small item to put in each stocking, if you’d like. Small items might include pencils, candy canes, bouncy balls, bubbles, or any other small item that will fit into a stocking. This is not required, however, we know that a lot of children like to do something for their classmates for the holidays and hope that this makes it a bit easier.

You may send in small items for the kids’ stockings starting next Wednesday. Please bring 19 items, one for each of our treasured friends if you choose to participate. See attached letter that will be sent home on Friday.

Scholastic Warehouse Sale Going On Now

We are very fortunate to live near a Scholastic Warehouse and this week they are beginning their holiday warehouse sale. All books are half price and they often have boxes you can fill with books of your choice for as little as $20! They are located just off Highway 41 in the industrial park across from Sparkles Roller Rink in Kennesaw. Sale hours are:

December 7 - 17 Weekdays (Dec. 7-16): 11 a.m.-7 p.m.

Saturdays (Dec. 10 & 17): 9 a.m.-4 p.m.

Closed Sunday

7 Habits LEADERSHIP DAY

Pickett’s Mill Elementary will be hosting its First Annual Leadership Day on January 27^th. In preparation for this fabulous event, we would like to take a moment to let you know a little more about Leadership Day 2012.

There will be over 100 visitors attending to see The 7 Habits in action.
Unfortunately, with such a large influx of visitors, we will be unable to accommodate parent visitors on this special day. We will definitely document the occasion with tons of pictures and videos that we will share!
All students will participate in a leadership role for this day. Some will be leaders who prepare materials, hall displays, or information for our visitors. Others will be leaders who have a speaking role, a performance role, or serve as greeters and guides for guests. Every classroom will have a guest visitor on Leadership Day and therefore all students will be sharing as leaders within their classrooms as well.
Next year, we are sure our students and staff will come up with even more opportunities to showcase student leadership on this special day.
We are asking all students to “Dress for Success” this day.

Treasured Tidbits 12.2

WOW, what a busy week we had! The children did an awesome job beginning with the end in mind and being proactive participants as we practiced for our musical. I am so proud of their performance! I hope they enjoyed eating a meal from their RED plate celebrating their success! We have another busy week ahead of us.

Math - Geometry ~ radius, diameter, center, line, ray, line segment, intersecting lines, parallel lines
