Steps to Respect Climate Survey-Passive Permission

 Dear Parents,

 As part of our ongoing efforts to prevent harassing and bullying behavior at Pickett’s Mill Elementary School, we will be administering the Steps to Respect Climate Survey/Questionnaire that measures perceptions and attitudes in the area of harassing and bullying behavior. The Questionnaire will be given in October to students in grades 3-5.

 This climate survey functions as an anonymous needs assessment by:  

          Providing information critical to planning our bullying prevention strategies;

          Providing a baseline from which to measure progress in reducing harassing/bullying behavior.

          Helps to identify “hot spots” within our school and community

 A copy of the Steps to Respect Climate Questionnaire will be available in the front office for parents to review.   Participation is voluntary, and if you do not want your son or daughter to participate please notify your classroom teacher via email or note prior to the administration date listed above.

Guiding Good Choices - Parenting Workshop

 The Guiding Good Choices parenting program is a 3-week

•Developing clear family guidelines and expectations for behavior

 

•Teaching children the skills they need to stay out of trouble while

still having fun

•Learning about the nature and extent of teenage drug use and

how to prevent this within your own family

•Managing family conflict in a way that maintains and strengthens

bonds

•Increasing children’s involvement with the family in the teen

years

•Creating a parent support network

 

Classes will be September 8th, 15th, 22nd

Welcome back, Pickett's Mill pirates and parents!  I trust that you have had a wonderful and restful summer and are eager to begin a new year of exciting learning opportunities.  Our guidance and counseling program will continue to "smove" and groove by presenting a standards based curriculum centered around academic, personal/social and career domains. Additionally, we'll conitnue to focus on practicing the 7 Habits to fully develop leadership skills in all of our students.  Together, we can make this the best year yet!
