November 28-BLUEBERRY

Today we used our convergent, divergent and evaluative thinking skills while in our forensic centers. A big thanks to Mrs. Davis for heading up the "brown" stain station; Mr. Greaux for heading up the "smells" station; Mrs. Willingham for heading up the "cola" station; Mrs. Kim for heading up the "threads" station.  It would not have been as succesful without your help!  We have five more stations next week as we wrap up our mystery crime scene.

Relationships and Connections: We almost have completed our Chasing Vermeer book.  We only had 2-3 pages left before you were dismissed to go to musical practice this afternoon.

Self Reflection: Journals/Goals-Please use your journal to write a goal that you can accomplish for next week's Target class.

Self Directed Learner: Think about our stations from earlier today. Which station gave the best information in helping solve some of the mystery items in the crime scene? Please support your answer with 3-5 well written sentences.

November 17-BANANA

CONVERGENT: Reviewed evidence from our crime scene map and created post-it notes of the evidence

DIVERGENT: Listened to Felix' story as well as the suspects (alibis) stories and took notes in our detective pads; prepared fingerprinted cups for next week's forensic station

EVALUATIVE: Connected the evidence to the suspects; Created the suspect wall of evidence

RELATIONSHIPS AND CONNECTIONS: Chasing Vermeer chapters 19 and 20 were read today. We set up our pentominoe and frog cipher for chapter 19. Tonight's blog question: Tell me another coincidence you have experienced since reading the book. This one needs to be different than your last one. Remember I told you mine about JET'S pizza. I am amazed at how often coincidences occur!

SELF REFLECTION: Journals/Goals-make sure you have your strengths and weaknesses recognized from this week's Target day. Create a goal based on one of your weaknesses to improve for next week! Don't forget your long term goal.

SELF DIRECTED LEARNER: Study vocabulary chapter 21 and 22 for Chasing Vermeer; We created a calendar for the remaining of 2011. Be aware that we will meet only 3 days before winter break and don't forget I will test new students for the program the month of Jan. Look at your journal if you don't remember.

RESPECT FOR OTHERS: Detective teams used respect when discussing the evidence and working as a group to determine if the evidence was hard, shaky or unimportant.

November 16-Lime

Strange day today. My daughter who is in college, is having emergency surgery on a cyst that grew back as I type this.  I am leaving to check on her right after school today.  We also had a long tornado warning; to keep us safe we stayed in the hallway for about 40 minutes this afternoon.  Thankful that we are all safe.  Happy Thanksgiving!

RELATIONSHIPS AND CONNECTIONS: Majestic Connections 2-this is connecting certain items to how it relates to a bridge. You will need to be perfect clear with your wording. Your writing should be 3 sentences to justify your connection.

SELF REFLECTION: Using your journal you should create a short term goal that you can accomplish next week in Target. Your long term goal is to get the most points as a class for this nine weeks grading period. While you are reflecting think about following directions, many of you did poorly on the assignment If I Were a Bridge...you must correct at least one to make it perfect because we will turn it into something new on our next Target day. If you received an overall check minus you are required to re-do the entire assignment.

Wow!  What an exciting day!  You guys were great detectives.

CONVERGENT: Study the crime scene and mark the evidence. You were so fabulous at this that we didn't get much time to do anything else!

This is your only Target homework.  BLOG RESPONSE: Explain in 3-5 sentences how you will study your vocabulary words this week!

RESPECT FOR OTHERS: You worked in teams trying to describe the crime scene.  Great job GREEN, BLUE, RED, and ORANGE detectives.  You really did excellent work.  If your group is not listed it means you had too many errors today during our crime scene sessions.  Please work harder next week.
