Hi my name is Susan Chaney. I am a student at Kennesaw State University. I have been given the privilege and honor of doing my student teaching here at Pickett’s Mill Elementary in the Physical Education Department. I will be working with Coach Charrette and Ms. Cockrell for the remainder of this school year. In May, I will graduate with a Bachelors of Science Degree in Health & Physical Education. Then I will be certified to teach Physical Education in any K-12th grade setting.
My family transferred to Georgia eighteen years ago from the beautiful state of Louisiana. Geaux Tigers! I have a wonderful husband and three great sons. We love to run, hike, and ride bikes. My oldest son, Matt will graduate from KSU the same day as me. He will have a Bachelor’s Degree in Math Education. My middle son is named Jonathan. He is a junior at Allatoona High School, and he is in the marching band. My youngest son, Michael attended Pickett’s Mill Elementary but has now moved on to Durham Middle School and is in the 6th grade. He loves basketball and baseball.
I have a passion for exercise and physical fitness. In addition to being a full time student, I am certified in personal training, group fitness and water aerobics. I currently teach several water aerobic classes at the local YMCA. It is my goal to help children develop a love for physical activity. Then perhaps they will continue to experience the joy that physical activity can bring well into their adult lives. I believe that PE should be fun and exciting! The students at Pickett’s Mill Elementary have a lot of fun and excitement each and every day.
I am learning so much in the PE Department at Pickett’s Mill Elementary. You are very fortunate to have such a wonderful coach and facility for your students. Hopefully one day I will have the opportunity to have my own gym and I plan to create the same type atmosphere that Pickett’s Mill Elementary has
