Cobb County students who need a significantly modified curriculum should be enrolled in ACCESS Courses to receive the needed Carnegie units for graduation. ACCESS courses are not intended to be isolated classes at specific times during the day, but rather integrated throughout the day to meet the individual needs of students including addressing IEP objectives. Teachers should be utilizing integrated units that allow them to teach multiple grade levels and content areas throughout the day.
Here are some support materials that can be used for the required SOCIAL STUDIES courses: US History, Economics/US Government, World History, You must have Boardmaker software loaded on your computer and your Boardmaker CD in the drive to open any Boardmaker files.
Each topic has a cover sheet that lists the course number & description along with recommended standards to be considered for that course. For each of the recommended standards/elements there is also an initial unit plan that indicates the resources available for Cobb County teachers. This unit plan can be completed to meet the individual IEP needs for your specific class. These standards & elements were chosen because they have been successfully implemented by HS ACCESS teachers and there are already resources available to Cobb County teachers.
