CURRICULUM GUIDES - It is required that teachers of ID classrooms have a yearly plan represented by a curriculum guide. The following guides meet all the requirements for addressing core content standards in grades K-8 in multi grade classrooms. Teachers may adjust time frames and standards to meet the individual needs of students as long as they are still meeting the curriculum needs of all the students in their class throughout the year. It is expected that teachers will have a year long curriculum guide for their classroom by Sept. 7. This guide only addresses the core content standards of science & social studies because ELA and math standards should be embedded in instructional units throughout the school year. Recommended ELA and Math standards are listed on a separate page. Teachers who follow the proposed curriculum guide framework will have ample opportunity to meet GAA requirements by the end of the first semester.
Download Access Graduation Plan This is the form to help plan and document HS courses for Access Students. The requirements for graduation for students on GAA are also stated clearly on this form.
Download Rubric The scoring Rubric for Access courses. This is the same rubric that has been in place for Access students for the past 2 years. Remember that Access courses are designed to meet individual student needs in aligning instruction and exposing students to grade level standards.
Download Giving Access to the HS Access Courses This powerpoint addresses the requirements for courses, grades, graduation and course content. Access courses are not intended to be taught as isolated courses like general education courses but rather as part of integrated daily instruction that includes functional life skills as well as IEP objectives. This powerpoint also contains a list of all of the courses that can be used as the 4th science for students participating in GAA.
CURRICULUM GUIDE - please read the notes under the Elementary & MS Curriculum GUide section above. The HS guide addresses all of the required courses for graduation within a single year because HS access teachers have multiple grades within each instructional period. Teachers should not be teaching an isolated course but rather integrate instruction throughout the day.
